UNIT/BUILDING MAINTENANCE & OTHER TIPS

The regular maintenance of a dwelling is crucial to prolong its useful life, provide adequate safety and sanitary conditions and save resources.  The following are some tips that may be useful to the homeowners of the various projects built by East Little Havana CDC.  These, however, are only a few of the many steps that an owner should take to properly maintain his or her unit.

TIPS

  • Reseal all windows and doors using elastomeric based caulking every year.

  • Reseal all threshholds with elastomeric sealant every year.

  • Reseal roof parapet every year with an elastomeric based exterior paint.

  • Refresh roof membrane seams with fiber-containing sealer every year.

  • Seal any perforation made to the walls while installing satelite antennas or other devices.

  • Tighten sink drain pipes periodically to prevent leaks.

  • Clean air-conditioners periodically.
